1. Conditions Apple actually needs

• Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically On
• Cellular available (Apple sends an SMS; hotel Wi‑Fi will not receive it)
• Phone not in Airplane Mode
• Low Power Mode off so background activation can finish — USB-C PD hub if the brick is junk
• Apple ID signed in (Settings at the top)
