Find Hub Not Working on Android?

Find Hub not working on Android (still labeled Find My Device in many menus) after Android 16 is a toggle, Play Services sleep, or the phone is actually off — not Google deleting the crowd network.

1. Turn the Google finder on (both names)

Settings → Google → Find My Device (or Find Hub) → On. Allow Location all the time for the finder / Play Services.

Settings → Location On, Precise On. Same fused-location stack as Maps on Android.

Play Services battery: Unrestricted. OEM Sleeping apps that park Play Services make the phone vanish from the map until you unlock it — useless for a lost device.

Charge on a known PD path (USB-C hub) after an Android 16 / Feature Drop so Play can finish.

2. Prove it on the web

On a computer, signed into the same Google account: android.com/find (Google redirects as the Find Hub web UI evolves).

• Web sees the phone, the app does not → Offload/reinstall Find Hub / Find My Device
• Neither sees it → toggle Off/On on the phone, wait 15 minutes on Wi‑Fi
• Web shows a city you are not in → leftover device in the account list; remove old tablets

VPN on the searching computer can make the map look empty. Try without.

3. Play Sound, Secure, Erase

Play Sound: DND and volume 0 will make you think it failed. Media volume up.

Secure device: useful if you still have a lock. Erase: last resort, and FRP will hit the next owner — FRP after repair if a shop already wiped it.

Airplane Mode / dead battery: the crowd Find Hub network (offline finding) only helps if that feature was On before the phone died, and other Android devices must walk by. A bag in a closet for two days looks gone. Same physics as AirTags in Find My iPhone.

4. Samsung parallel map

SmartThings Find / Galaxy Find: Settings under Samsung account / SmartThings. Tags and Buds often show there first.

Do not disable Google Find Hub because the Samsung map is empty — they are different crowds. Buds pairing issues: Galaxy Buds.

5. Lost phone vs this phone in your hand

If the device is gone: use the web tools from another login. Do not factory-reset a new phone into a Google account you don’t control. Shop drop-off: before sending for repair.

If the device is in your hand and still “offline”: reboot, toggle Find My Device, Unrestrict Play Services, wait. A factory reset is not a Find Hub fix.
