Apple Music Silent After iOS 26?

Apple Music silent, skipping, or stuck on Loading after iOS 26 / 26.6 — downloads, Spatial Audio, Bluetooth, Screen Time, and when iCloud Music Library is the bottleneck.

10 min readApple Music, iOS 26, no sound

Apple Music not playing after iOS 26 is usually a stolen Bluetooth route, a Sync Library hang during 26.6 indexing, or Spatial/Lossless on a terrible SSID — not a cancelled subscription until Settings says so.

Related: AirPods crackling · iOS 26.6 · Dynamic Island · AirPlay · Safari slow · Siri · Spotify keeps stopping · Android music pausing.

1. Prove the speaker before the catalog

Ring/Silent switch on the left side — orange means silent for some alerts; Music should still play, but people mix this up with volume.

Control Center volume, then Bluetooth Off. Play a downloaded track on iPhone speakers. Sound there + silence on AirPods = buds (AirPods crackling / pairing). Silence everywhere = audio session, not Apple Music servers.

Keep Low Power off. A USB-C PD hub overnight lets Sync Library finish instead of stalling at 8%.

If the whole phone is still crawling, wait out 26.6 indexing. Music’s iCloud library shares I/O with Spotlight.

2. Spatial, Lossless, and Low Data

Settings → Apps → Music:

  • Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio Off for the test
  • Lossless Audio Off on cellular and on congested Wi‑Fi
  • Cellular Data On if you actually stream away from home
  • Wi‑Fi Low Data Mode Off (Settings → Wi‑Fi → [i])

Skip-skip-skip on a track you thought was downloaded: swipe the song → Remove Download, then download again on Wi‑Fi.

3. Sync Library vs a dead Apple ID

Settings → Apps → Music → Sync Library On. After 26.6 it can sit on Updating for hours. That is not “Apple deleted my rips.”

  • Confirm Settings → [Name] is the right Apple ID
  • Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases — subscription active
  • Screen Time → Content & Privacy → Music not blocked (rare, but a weekly family-ticket)

Do not sign out of Apple ID to kick Music. You will fight Find My and Photos for a playlist.

4. Offload, not Delete-first

Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Music → Offload App. Playlists and cloud library stay. Reopen Music, sign in if asked, let it pull.

Full Delete is the same for cloud data; you only lose on-device downloads. Prefer Offload.

Siri not starting the album: Siri after iOS 26. Crossfade / gapless weirdness after 26.6 is DSP — toggle Crossfade off.

5. Car, Watch, and HomePod

  • CarPlay: phone speakers work → CarPlay
  • Watch as remote: Watch BT glitch after 26.6 — Watch unlock is the same radio family
  • HomePod: that’s a Home/Apple ID issue, not this iPhone Music article

Android in the same household pausing Spotify is Android music — OEM battery, not iOS 26.

Do / Don’t

Do Don’t
Speakers first, Bluetooth off Sign out of Apple ID to fix Loading…
Lossless/Spatial off on weak Wi‑Fi Delete Music to “clear cache” before Offload
Redownload a skipping track Judge Sync Library during 26.6 night one
Check Screen Time + subscription Replace AirPods because the Silent switch was orange
Charge overnight Restore the iPhone for a playlist

Bottom line

Speakers → Low Data/Spatial off → let Sync Library finish → Offload Music. Apple Music after iOS 26 is an audio route and an iCloud library catch-up. Restoring the phone because one album spun is how you lose a Saturday.

Frequently Asked Questions

Apple Music shows a playing bar but no sound after iOS 26.6?

Bluetooth still holding a dead device, Silent switch, or Spatial / Lossless fighting a weak radio. Play on iPhone speakers first. If speakers are silent too, it is an audio route — see Windows/Android music guides only if this is not an iPhone.

Tracks skip every few seconds?

Streaming on congested Wi‑Fi, Low Data Mode, or a corrupt download. Delete the local download, turn Low Data off, retry on cellular.

Loading… forever on songs I already bought?

iCloud Music Library / Sync Library catching up after 26.6. Stay on Wi‑Fi and power. Do not sign out of Apple ID first.

Spotify works, Apple Music does not?

That isolates Apple’s library/account, not the speaker. Offload Music, check Screen Time, confirm the Apple Music subscription is actually active.

Will Offload Music delete my playlists?

Playlists live in the Apple ID. Local downloads come back. You will re-download, which is why you want a charger.
