HomePod Siri/Audio Broken After iOS 26?

HomePod not working after iOS 26 is wrong Wi‑Fi, a dead Home hub, or a hung AirPlay session — not a brick until unplug + same SSID still fail. iPhone Siri being fine does not prove the HomePod mics.

1. Same SSID as the iPhone

HomePod on IoT-2.4 and iPhone on 5 GHz-main with isolation = invisible speaker. One SSID, AP isolation off, VPN off.

A Home hub should show connected: Apple TV, a HomePod, or an iPad set as hub. Remote control and some automations need it.

Keep the iPhone charged while you re-add — USB-C PD hub. Mid-setup Low Power after 26.6 looks like a failed pair.

iPhone still indexing: iOS 26.6. Don’t reset the HomePod during Spotlight.

2. Power-cycle, then software

Unplug HomePod 10 seconds, plug back, wait for the chime. Home app → HomePod → Update if offered.

Reboot the iPhone. 26.6 leaves HomeKit sessions wedged the same way AirPlay does.

3. AirPlay vs Siri vs Music

AirPlay: Control Center Screen Mirroring / Music AirPlay picker. Empty list: AirPlay after iOS 26 (tile on CC page two). Audio AirPlay works, Siri doesn’t: speaker mics / Home Siri, not AirPlay.

4. Stereo pair and rooms

Home → long-press HomePod → accessory settings → unlink stereo, then pair again. Both speakers on the same band. Assign the correct room or Intercom/Siri will hit the wrong pod.

5. Reset last

Apple’s reset (hold the top until spinning red, or TV/Home instructions for your model) removes it from the Home. Re-add on the same SSID with the phone unlocked and close.

A HomePod that never chimes after a surge is hardware. One that chimes but never joins Wi‑Fi is still network — try phone hotspot only as a last pairing trick (then move it back to house Wi‑Fi).

Bottom line

Same Wi‑Fi → hub online → unplug HomePod → AirPlay test → regroup stereo. After iOS 26 the speaker is almost never dead — the phone just cannot see it on the IoT VLAN. Reset is last, not first.
