iPhone Banners Silent After iOS 26?
iPhone notifications missing or silent after iOS 26 / 26.6 — Focus, Scheduled Summary, Lock Screen, notification style, and when one app vs system banners is next.
iPhone notifications not showing after iOS 26 is Focus, Scheduled Summary, or the Silent switch — not Apple turning off push. App-specific delays (Gmail Fetch, WhatsApp) are separate pipelines.

Symptom map
| Pattern | Likely cause | Move |
|---|---|---|
| Everything silent | Focus / Silent switch | Focus Off; check orange switch |
| Appear in NC, not Lock Screen | Lock Screen toggles / Show Previews | Per-app Lock Screen On |
| Badges only | Banners Off | Notification style |
| Hourly dump of old alerts | Scheduled Summary | Immediate delivery |
| One app only | That app’s settings | WhatsApp / Gmail / Outlook guides |
| Swipe does nothing | Wrong corner | Top-left NC, top-right CC |
1. Gesture and hardware mute
Notification Center: down from the top-left / middle of the status bar. Top-right is Control Center after Liquid Glass — CC missing.
Left-side Ring/Silent orange = sounds off. Cover to Mute / a thick case over the switch feels like iOS 26 “broke notifications.”
Keep Low Power off during the test — USB-C PD hub. Low Power defers background fetch and looks like dead push.
2. Focus is the silent-phone factory
Control Center Focus indicator. Settings → Focus — disable Sleep, Work, Personal, Driving for 24 hours.
Edit each Focus:
- Allowed Apps include Messages / Phone / your chat app
- Time Sensitive Notifications On
- Lock Screen Show silenced notifications if you still want a list
iOS 26 Focus filters can hide Home Screen pages and notification styles. If banners return with Focus Off, fix the filter — don’t Reset All Settings.
Driving / CarPlay: CarPlay.
3. Scheduled Summary impersonates “not working”
Settings → Notifications → Scheduled Summary. If Messages and Mail are in the summary, you get a 8 a.m. bundle instead of a banner. Remove them or turn Summary off.
Show Previews: Always / When Unlocked / Never. Never + Lock Screen looks like missing notifications; they’re just faceless.
Per app: Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners, Sounds, Badges. Badges-only is a valid (and confusing) combo after 26.x resets the sheet.
4. Background App Refresh and 26.6
Settings → General → Background App Refresh On. After 26.6, indexing postpones pushes — wait until the battery banner about finishing the update is gone (iOS 26.6).
Date & Time Automatic. A wrong clock after travel breaks push tokens the same way it breaks iMessage.
5. When it is one app
| App | Guide |
|---|---|
| WhatsApp iOS 26 | |
| Gmail | Gmail delayed |
| Outlook | Outlook sync |
| FaceTime rings | FaceTime |
Android in the family: Android notifications — OEM battery, not Focus.
Widgets showing old badge counts: widgets.
Do / Don’t
| Do | Don’t |
|---|---|
| Focus Off + Summary Immediate | Restore the iPhone for a Sleep schedule |
| Per-app Lock Screen + Banners | Mix NC swipe with Control Center |
| BAR On after 26.6 | Blame iOS 26 for the Silent switch |
| Use the app-specific guide | Reset All Settings first |
| Check Show Previews | Stack three Focus modes and call it a push outage |
Bottom line
Focus off → Immediate not Summary → Lock Screen/Banners/Sounds → BAR On. iOS 26 did not kill notifications. It made Focus and Liquid Glass corners easier to misread — until one app’s own pipeline is the real delay.
Frequently Asked Questions
All iPhone notifications silent after iOS 26.6?
Focus / Sleep schedule, Scheduled Summary, or Ring/Silent switch. Turn Focus off, deliver immediately (not Summary), and check the orange Silent switch.
Badge counts rise, no banners?
Lock Screen / Banners toggles off for that app, or Show Previews Never. Badges can survive when banners do not.
One app only (WhatsApp, Gmail, Outlook)?
Use that app’s guide. This page is system-wide iOS policy. WhatsApp, Gmail, and Outlook each have their own notification pipelines.
Did Notification Center move in iOS 26?
Still swipe down from the top-left/center. Top-right is Control Center. Mixing those after Liquid Glass is a weekly ticket.
Time Sensitive still silent?
Focus can still hide them if you did not allow Time Sensitive. Edit the Focus → Apps / Time Sensitive.
